Fabrication of a customized prosthesis is completed before the procedure so there is not waiting time.
During the procedure, surgery is completed in arthroscopic fashion so there is no flap reflection. This means patients experience less postoperative discomfort, swelling, and bruising following the procedure. Patients can typically resume their normal activities and schedule the next day.
Each process begins when a CAT scan is taken of the patient’s jaw bone. This scan allows for the creation of a 3D model of the jaw bone, which can then be manipulated in virtual reality to plan implant placement without disturbing the patient. This means placement is more accurate, but also that the patient needs to spend less time in the office preparing.
